Roundup: December 16-31

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Happy Holidays everybody! Christmas and New Years have seen us on a social whirlwind tour, enjoying the friendship and company of so many of the warm and welcoming Aussies we have met thus far in our journey.
And believe it or not, in there, I found some time to get a few more articles published too! [...]

The Affectionate Kangaroo

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Regular readers of this blog are of course familiar with our good friend Bracken, the kangaroo. Well, after six months of our living here, he is still a staple in our diet of Australian culture. I must admit that the novelty has largely worn off; with the weather getting increasingly sunnier and warmer I would [...]

Gardening Down Under

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

“You must have a little veggie patch at your place, don’t you? Everybody does,” said one Aussie fellow to me when speaking about the Australian agriculture industry. “Chuck just about anything in the ground, it grows here,” were his wise words to me that day.
As it happened, I had indeed just planted some seedlings in [...]

The Christmas Season in the Australian Countryside

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

1) Decorations Galore
2) Sales and Shopping Frenzies
3) Snow

Passports with Purpose: Win Some Neat Prizes and Contribute to a Great Cause

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

So I was recently contacted by Beth at Wanderlust and Lipstick, a fellow traveling-nomadic-writer (but one-up on me as she has a best-selling book and I don’t…yet). She alerted me to a project that she and a few dozen other travel bloggers are working on that sounds absolutely fabulous. Although I was unable to [...]

Playing With Poppy the Wombat

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

After meeting Bracken our horny and insatiable kangaroo, and feeding the beautiful king parrots here at Kingbilli, we knew we were in the perfect place to become acquainted with native Australian wildlife in ways that most people – even Australians – don’t have a chance to. Such are the benefits of living on a [...]

Roundup: November 16-30

Monday, December 1st, 2008

For the last two weeks we have been so lucky to have Kelly’s parents visiting from Vancouver Island. The 35 hour journey here was a little tough, but they rallied well to enjoy the (rainy-but-nice) weather and see some sights with us. Please look forward to some updates about our adventures shortly.
In the meantime, [...]
